AIRDRIE CAMPS is proud to present a new 2-day football skills development camp to the community of Airdrie, Calgary and the surrounding areas, designed for female football players only, ages 10-18. Participants will be split into groups based age/ability (e.g. U19, U16 & U13),

Join AIRDRIE CAMPS as we partner with coaches from The Airdrie Female Raiders U19/U16 tackle football teams, and other coaches from the Southern Alberta Female Football League (SAFFL) in Calgary, for a non-contact football skills camp to get ready for the fall & spring tackle and flag football seasons coming up.
Our camp will provide a comprehensive training program, supported by an experienced coaching staff and will run for two Sunday sessions in August 2025. DATES: 2 days only: Sundays - August 17 & 24 TIME: 2 hours each session - 3pm-5pm (Check in at 2:30pm) AGE GROUPS: Females only, ages 10-18
CAPACITY: 20 Max Participants per age group (TBD) COACH: Dawn Sorsdahl - Head Coach with Airdrie Female Raiders U19/U16 teams, along with other experienced position coaches. REGISTRATION: Opens July 1st until July 31 (or until full) LOCATION: Airdrie Ed Eggerer Athletic Park - Genesis Place 800 East Lake Blvd NE, Airdrie, AB COST: $100 / person for both sessions - $60 for one session. WHAT TO BRING: Water bottle, athletic shoes (cleats recommended) and proper workout clothing - dress for the weather. No football equipment required but football gloves are also recommended. Each participant will receive a t-shirt to take home. |

DAWN SORSDAHL – Head Coach, Strength & Conditioning, Running Backs / Defensive Line
Dawn Sorsdahl is dedicated to empowering young athletes through fitness and sport. For over a decade, she has served as a strength and conditioning coach, manager, and position coach with the Bantam Raiders and Bert Church High School football teams, where she transformed training programs and significantly boosted athlete engagement and fitness. She also helped launch the “Cram the Ram” campaign, collecting donations for the Airdrie Food Bank during home games. Having just completed her second year as Head Coach of the Airdrie Female Raiders U19/U16 teams, Dawn continues to break barriers in girls’ tackle football. Her passion and leadership have inspired countless youth to lead healthier lives—on and off the field. Most recently, Dawn led Team Alberta’s U16 Girls Tackle Football Team as head coach to a gold medal at the 2024 Battle of the Rockies Showcase, and served as a Defensive Coach for the gold medal-winning U18 Girls Team at the 2024 U18 Female National Championship—further cementing her role as a leader in female football development across Alberta and Canada. |

DAKOTA McKAY – Quarterbacks / Receivers Coach
Dakota McKay brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the field. A standout receiver and safety at Bert Church High School and with the Airdrie Spring Raiders, Dakota was named Rookie of the Year, two-time league all-star, league Offensive Player of the Year, and two-time team MVP. With the Raiders, he earned additional recognition as a league all-star, team MVP, and team scholarship winner. Following high school, Dakota played six seasons as a receiver with the University of Alberta Golden Bears. After his playing career, he transitioned into coaching while working as a teacher, developing quarterbacks and receivers across several elite programs, including the Golden Bears Selects, Bev Facey High School, and Harry Ainlay High School. In 2023, Dakota helped lead Harry Ainlay to an impressive sweep—winning the Edmonton Junior High School Football City Championship, the Senior High City Championship, and the Alberta Provincial Championship—serving as the receivers coach, quarterbacks coach, and pass game coordinator. |

MARTIN DONISON – Receivers / Tight Ends Coach
Martin Donison brings decades of playing and coaching experience to the field, with a deep passion for the receiver position. After a season of high school football in Ontario as a wide receiver, Martin pursued track and field—but football quickly called him back. He went on to play five seasons in the Kootenay Men’s Football League in Nelson, B.C., where he thrived as both a wide receiver and cornerback. Known for his speed and agility, Martin earned league honors including Fastest Player and Most Interceptions in a Season. He also managed his team, the Nelson Impact, and contributed as an assistant coach. Martin continued his football journey in Calgary, competing in the Calgary Men’s League for another five years. While primarily a wide receiver, he showcased his versatility by playing cornerback, free safety, and even stepping in as quarterback when needed. As the years progressed, he transitioned to flag football to stay active in the game he loves. Now serving as a receivers coach for the Airdrie Female Raiders, Martin is passionate about passing on his knowledge to the next generation. “I’m honored to share the skills I’ve learned over the years,” says Martin. “If I can help even one player build confidence and improve their game, it’s all been worth it.” |

DAMON JONSON – Runningbacks / Offensive Line Coach
Damon Jonson’s football journey began with the Airdrie Storm at the peewee level and continued through to the George McDougall Mustangs, where he played every position on the field. A key contributor to the Mustangs’ 2013 RVSA Championship win, Damon wrapped up his playing career in 2014, earning multiple accolades along the way—including several Heart Awards and Offensive Back of the Year. After stepping away from the game to pursue his university studies, Damon returned to Airdrie to give back to the sport he loves. In 2024, he joined the Airdrie Female Raiders as the Running Backs Coach, and has since taken on the role of Offensive Coordinator for the U16 team. Most recently, he had the honor of coaching with Alberta’s first-ever U16 Female Provincial Team at the Battle of the Rockies. Damon brings energy, experience, and a deep understanding of the game to every practice and believes that success doesn’t come from size or strength alone: “You don’t have to be the biggest or the strongest—you just have to want it more than your opponent.” |

JUSTIN BRAZEAU – Defensive Backs / Linebackers Coach
Justin Brazeau brings over a decade of football experience and a deep passion for defensive play. He began his football journey with the Hilltoppers Football Association, where he spent 12 seasons playing a variety of positions—including wide receiver and quarterback—before finding his true calling at linebacker during his final two seasons. Justin continued his football career at Notre Dame High School, spending three years as a linebacker and competing in two city championship games. A multi-sport athlete, he also ran track and field for three years, specializing in the 400m and 4x400m relay events. In his senior year, he took up rugby and was proud to be named Rookie of the Year. His dedication to sport and academics earned him a nomination for the Calgary Booster Club – John Mayell Memorial Award, a testament to his commitment both on and off the field. Today, Justin has come full circle, returning to Notre Dame High School as the Defensive Backs Coach. He’s passionate about giving back to the program and community that helped shape him, and is committed to mentoring the next generation of athletes through the game he loves. |

STEVEN FRIES – Defensive Line Coach
Steven Fries began coaching football as a way to spend more time with his son—and quickly discovered a passion for mentoring young athletes and giving back to the community. Since 2019, he has coached defensive line and linebackers in Airdrie’s community football programs, working across Atom, Peewee, and Bantam levels. He’s also led numerous off-season training programs and skills development camps, helping athletes grow both on and off the field. Steven now coaches high school football with the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers, where he serves as the Defensive Line Coach. His passion for the game is fueled by the competitive atmosphere and strong sense of camaraderie among both players and coaches. In 2023, he joined the Airdrie Female Raiders and currently holds the role of Defensive Coordinator. “We have a lot of great young people,” says Fries. “It’s a privilege to help these players succeed—not just as athletes, but as humans.” |

MATT MOHAN – Linebackers Coach
Matt Mohan brings energy, experience, and a deep love for the game to every team he works with. He began playing football at the age of 8, spending most of his career as a linebacker and fullback. After starting his football journey in Stony Plain and Spruce Grove, Matt moved to Airdrie for his second year of Bantam and suited up with the Airdrie Storm. Now as a coach, Matt is passionate about helping young athletes discover the same love for football that shaped his life. He has coached with Airdrie Football across multiple age groups—including Atom and Peewee Storm, Xtreme Flag, and NFL Flag—primarily working with running backs and linebackers. In the spring 2024 season, Matt joined the Airdrie Female Raiders as an assistant coach for the U16 and U19 teams, focusing on the defensive line and overall defensive unit. “I love helping kids find a love for football—just like I did growing up.” |

KIARA CAREDDU – Assistant Coach (Defense)
Kiara Careddu’s football journey began in Grade 9 with the Airdrie Female Raiders, where she first played as a cornerback and quickly developed a passion for the game—especially for the linebacker position. In Grade 10, Kiara joined the Notre Dame High School football team, the only female player at the time, playing linebacker. She continued her high school football career with North Trail High School’s senior team and also played for the Spring Wildcats, again as the only girl on the roster. Her versatility on the field is unmatched—playing linebacker, running back, receiver, and both offensive and defensive line positions with the Calgary Female Wildcats. Beyond football, Kiara is a multi-sport athlete. She plays rugby and placed 3rd in the city and 6th in provincials for wrestling this past season. She also made a major impact in rugby, scoring three tries in a single city quarterfinal game and competing as a flanker at the U19 ARC tournament. In 2024, Kiara stepped into a coaching role as a Defensive Coach for Team Alberta’s U16 Girls Tackle Team, and will return as a coach with the Calgary Wildcats next season. Her determination, athleticism, and leadership continue to inspire young athletes across Alberta. |
